My all time favorite public speaker is Brené Brown, because of the way she makes the audience laugh in order to relate to the message she wants to get across. She is so honest, raw, and funny that I feel inspired after her talks. She has given multiple Ted Talks, has millions of views, and also has a Netflix documentary. She tells the audience when she is nervous, and is so relatable and human that it’s easy to connect with her and how she feels. I believe the ability to light up a room and inspire others is a key trait that is awesome and one that I hope to learn from. Her energy is contagious and if I am ever given the chance, hope to embody the same energy one day while giving my own Ted Talk.

I am also really excited because today UCSD Tedx Talks will be happening on campus, so I am really looking forward to hearing from some inspiring students on campus! I think it takes courage and the ability to step outside your comfort zone to be able to deliver a message to people. People who have mastered the art of being comfortable in uncomfortable situations are my favorite, because that energy is contagious and motivates you to want to do better and change the world!

Update after the UCSD Tedx Talks event titled ‘True North’:

4 wonderful speakers! Narin Fazlalipour, Arlene Nagtalon, Charles Vu, and Ishika Rathi!

From Narin I learned about taking a step back from ego, because most relationships gets dissolved because our ego gets in the way.

From Arlene I learned about the importance of trying new things and being open to new activities.

Charles gave a huge plot twist by sharing how our own mind sometimes gets in our own way and about the importance of asking for help when you need it. The right people will be there to help you.

Ishika spoke about perfection and how to treasure a hobby that brings you joy and nothing else.
